With fall here, we wanted to focus this month on some different ideas for home and shop storage.

Starting with the project on the left, this is a spice rack that was designed initially to fill the space left behind when a large obtrusive cabinet for holding a microwave was replaced by a hood mount unit freeing up some valuable counter top real estate that was previously unusable. We needed to cover an unfinished portion of the wall behind it as well as add some valuable storage.

Now that we have the kitchen taken care of, we can move on to the workshop. Here is a slick solution from our friends at WOODStore for storing clamps. This simple solution is based on commonly available adjustable shelf hardware. Originally featured in the July 2009 issue of WOOD, this inexpensive downloadable plan is available here:

Garage / Basement Storage System

Next we will move on to the garage or basement. Not impressed with the particalboard cabinets at the home improvement center? These sturdy easy to build cabinets are a great answer to eliminating clutter! Build one or more of these components to suite the space and storage requirements you have.
